Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guides for a pre-climb briefing and gear check. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Moshi to Rongai Gate – Trek to Simba Camp (2,600m)
Start with a drive to Rongai Gate for registration. Begin your trek through lush forests and farmland, with opportunities to spot wildlife like colobus monkeys. After 3-4 hours of trekking, arrive at Simba Camp for your first night under the stars.
Day 3: Simba Camp to Second Cave (3,450m)
Continue trekking through moorland, enjoying spectacular views of Kenya’s plains and Kilimanjaro’s rugged slopes. This 6-7 hour hike takes you to Second Cave, where you’ll rest for the night and acclimatize.
Day 4: Second Cave to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)
Ascend through alpine landscapes with stunning views as you make your way to Kikelewa Camp. The shorter trek today allows time to acclimatize and rest, ensuring you’re prepared for the higher altitudes ahead.
Day 5: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m)
Trek through rugged terrain to Mawenzi Tarn, a dramatic campsite nestled beneath the towering Mawenzi Peak. The afternoon is dedicated to rest and acclimatization, with optional short hikes to explore the area.
Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
A steady ascent takes you to Kibo Hut at the base of the summit. After an early dinner, prepare for the final push to Uhuru Peak later that night. Rest and hydrate as much as possible.
Day 7: Summit Night – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descent to Horombo Hut
Begin your summit attempt around midnight. Trek through the dark, reaching Gilman’s Point at sunrise. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and celebrate your achievement with breathtaking views. Descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing to Horombo Hut for the night.
Day 8: Descent to Marangu Gate and Departure
Trek down to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your certificate of achievement. Transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest or your onward journey.
